NEW slimmed-down buses have been specially made to get around a university campus . . . because of the narrow roads
The redesigned 'Sprint' buses – named to reflect the University of Loughborough’s international reputation for excellence in sport – come into service on Sunday 2 September in plenty of time for the start of the new term.
While most passengers are students and university staff, anyone can catch the buses that go from Loughborough railway station, through the town centre and onwards to the campus.
The six 'Sprints', each with an individual sports-themed livery, replace the number 7 (University Shuttle) buses.

The new additions to the Kinchbus company's fleet cost more than £500,000 and will make a substantial contribution to improving air quality.
The engines can cut nitrogen oxides emissions by up to half. The buses store a special chemical, which is sprayed on the exhaust fumes before they escape into the atmosphere, immediately reducing the level of harmful emissions.
The 32-seater buses are also fitted with CCTV cameras and GPS trackers to work the digital 'real time' timetable displays along the route.
